Liam was born to Jimmy and Betty Galvin and was reared on the family dairy farm in Ballaugh, Abbeyfeale, developing a keen interest in both farming and politics from a young age. His family is steeped in Fine Gael and his late father Jimmy was a party activist for many years, playing a leading role in numerous successful election campaigns.
Liam worked at Kostal Ireland GmbH for some years while seeing the farm move with the times and like many local farms change focus from dairy to beef. He captained Fr. Casey’s to their historic Senior County Championship title in 2000 & subsequently served as Club Chairman.
He was first elected to Limerick County Council in 2004, entered into a successful partnership in O’Sullivan’s Bar & Restaurant for a number of years & now farms in Ballaugh. Liam was re-elected to Limerick County Council in 2009, 2014 & 2019, serving as Mayor of Limerick City & County from 2015-2016.
Having spent 20 years on Limerick City & County Council Liam is vastly experienced in his role as a Councillor & is dedicated to making the voices of all whom he represents heard at Council level.
