Following consideration at the Government meeting this morning (Tuesday), the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe T.D., announced that the DART Underground project will not proceed as currently designed but will be redesigned to provide a lower cost technical solution for the project.

Aer Lingus has a long history and a close association with the State. For 70 of the nearly 80 years of its existence, it was State owned and although a majority stake in the airline was privatised some nine years ago, it still has a special place in the hearts of the Irish people.

The motion seeks the approval of the House for the general principles of the disposal of shares in Aer Lingus.
