REILLY – EXTRA €19 MILLION FOR PYRITE REMEDIATION WILL HELP HOMEOWNERS IN FINGAL

In yesterday’s Budget, the Government has announced €19 million extra funding for the Pyrite Remediation Scheme.
This is up from €10 million in 2015.
Homes affected by pyrite will also be exempt from the local property tax.
“The problem of pyrite has created huge difficulty and stress for people all over country but especially in Fingal. This additional money will help to continue alleviate this problem
‘I have been contacted by a lot of very concerned and angry homeowners. Hopefully with this additional funding we can accelerate the resolution of the problem for families in Fingal’’
‘’ This will allow us do far more remediation projects far quicker and advance remediation across the board. We will continue to ensure funds are there to eradicate the nightmare of pyrite for affected families’’. There were also announcements on the local property tax, with the Government announcing that the date for revaluation will be pushed back to 2019.
