After School service amongst range of projects to benefit from €3 million funding to Moyross – O’Donnell

31st March 2017 - Kieran O'Donnell, TD

Fine Gael Limerick Senator, Kieran O’Donnell, said the Moyross After School service is one of many community projects that will benefit from €3 million in Government funding to the local Community Enterprise Centre.

Senator O’Donnell said: “The extension and refurbishment of this building will deliver a much improved space from which key community supports can be provided.

“The After School service, currently operating out of temporary accommodation, will enjoy a new modern space.

“This will allow expansion of this essential service to even more young people in the community and will vastly improve the facilities available.

“This space will also include four new enterprise units, new public meetings rooms, a multi-purpose community hall, training rooms, class rooms, reception area, new café/restaurant, offices for the Moyross Credit Union and the CCTV Monitoring Centre.

“From an urban design and regeneration perspective, the proposed building will establish a strong community presence facing on to Moyross Avenue and this is to be welcomed.

“The Centre, opened in 1994, already provides a range of vital services to the community including childcare facilities, CCTV monitoring centre, meals on wheels, catering, secretarial support, jobs preparation, and sporting facilities.

“The extension and refurbishment of this building will deliver a much improved space from which these key community supports can be provided.”
