Succeed in Ireland initiative brings 61 new jobs to Cork

4th October 2013 - Deborah Sweeney

Fine Gael Cork North West Deputy, Áine Collins, has welcomed the announcement today (Friday) of 61 new jobs for Cork. The jobs are to be created by two new companies who were introduced to Ireland through the Succeed in Ireland initiative which was part of the Action Plan for Jobs.

The Cork jobs announcement is part of 83 new jobs to be created in Dublin and Cork by four different firms.

“The Succeed in Ireland initiative, which was introduced as part of the Action Plan for Jobs was designed to bring companies, who may not have had Ireland on their radar as a place to develop operations, here so that they could create the jobs our people so badly need.

“The scheme has been a great success and today’s announcements, which were made through ConnectIreland – the company charged with responsibility for the initiative – are proof of that. The jobs that will be coming to Cork include 55 positions at Sound & Sea Technologies, which provides marine engineering services for undersea systems. The company is setting up its European base and establishing two operations in Ringaskiddy on the Irish Marine and Energy Resources Cluster (IMERC) campus; Sound & Sea Europe (20 jobs) and Marine Micropile Technology (35 Jobs).

“In addition to this the Bayne Law Group, which is an American legal consultancy firm, will create six jobs in Support Centre in Cork City.

“I am delighted that through hard work and determination, these jobs, which could easily have gone elsewhere, have been brought to Ireland. Every person on the Live Register in Ireland is one too many and this Government will not rest until the unemployment crisis has been brought fully under control. Through initiatives such as the Action Plan for Jobs and Pathways to Work we are slowly but surely getting things under control, creating 3,000 jobs every month and heading in the right direction in terms of getting people back to work.”
