Tánaiste Simon Harris to attend EPP Leaders Summit
30th January 2026 - Simon Harris TD
An Tánaiste Simon Harris will travel to Zagreb, Croatia today (Friday) for the European Peoples’ Party (EPP) Leaders Summit.
The Tánaiste will be joined by over 20 political leaders where discussions will focus around Security and Defence, Migration and EU-US relations.
The Tánaiste will hold several bi-lateral meetings and will tonight hold talks with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
It’s expected that discussions will also centre around energy, the war in Ukraine and social media. The Fine Gael leader will brief colleagues on priorities for Ireland’s upcoming EU Presidency.
“The geopolitical events of the past couple of weeks – and indeed the past year – underscore the need for European parties to work more closely together,” said the Tánaiste.
“I’m looking forward to joining with my EPP colleagues to discuss how best we can navigate through these challenges and make Europe more resilient.”
