Voters should back experience and delivery in May’s bye-election – Kyne / Ba cheart do vótálaithe tacaíocht a thabhairt don taithí agus don obair atá curtha i gcrích i bhfothoghchán na Bealtaine – Kyne
27th March 2026 - Sean Kyne TD
Fine Gael Senator Seán Kyne has pledged to be a TD for everyone in Galway West calling on voters of all backgrounds to give him their first or highest preference in May’s bye-election.
Senator Kyne, Fine Gael’s candidate in the bye-election said, “I welcome any candidate’s decision to engage with the democratic process and respect their decision to organise their campaigns as they see fit.
“I believe that voters deserve representation which has a proven track record of delivery and works for everyone, not just those within a specific political bloc.
“Across my 20 years as a public representative in Galway, I’ve worked with colleagues in all parties and Independents. I’ve represented voters of all backgrounds and I’m asking everyone regardless of how they voted in the past to give me their first or highest preference in this bye-election.”
Senator Kyne pointed to his extensive track record of delivery for the constituency including overseeing the State’s purchase of Aerfort Chonamara which connects to the Aran Islands in eight minutes, funding towards the Dexcom Stadium and the Moycullen Bypass.
“This bye-election is about who is best placed to deliver for the people of Galway West in the Dáil. I’ve spent two decades building relationships, fighting for this constituency and delivering results. I trust voters to back that experience in May.”

Tá gealltanas tugtha ag an Seanadóir de chuid Fhine Gael Seán Kyne go mbeidh sé ina Theachta Dála do gach duine i nGaillimh Thiar, agus é ag iarraidh ar vótálaithe ó gach cúlra an chéad rogha nó an rogha is airde is féidir a thabhairt dó i bhfothoghchán na Bealtaine.
Dúirt an Seanadóir Kyne, iarrthóir Fhine Gael sa bhfothoghchán: “Fáiltím roimh chinneadh aon iarrthóra dul i mbun an phróisis dhaonlathaigh agus tá meas agam ar an gcinneadh atá glactha acu a bhfeachtais a eagrú mar is cuí leo féin.”
“Creidim go bhfuil ionadaíocht tuillte ag vótálaithe a bhfuil teist uirthi as torthaí a bhaint amach agus a oibríonn ar son gach duine, seachas iad siúd laistigh de bhloc polaitiúil ar leith amháin.
“Le 20 bliain anuas mar ionadaí poiblí i nGaillimh, d’oibrigh mé le comhghleacaithe i ngach páirtí agus le hIndependents. Rinne mé ionadaíocht thar ceann vótálaithe ó gach cúlra agus táim ag iarraidh ar gach duine, is cuma conas a vótáil siad san am a chuaigh thart, an chéad rogha nó an rogha is airde is féidir a thabhairt dom sa bhfothoghchán seo.”
Dhírigh an Seanadóir Kyne ar an teist fhairsing atá aige as torthaí a bhaint amach don dáilcheantar, lena n-áirítear maoirseacht a dhéanamh ar cheannach Aerfort Chonamara ag an Stát – aerfort a nascann le hOileáin Árann in ocht nóiméad – chomh maith le maoiniú do Staid Dexcom agus do Sheachbhóthar Mhaigh Cuilinn.
“Baineann an fothoghchán seo leis an duine is fearr atá in ann torthaí a bhaint amach do mhuintir na Gaillimhe Thiar sa Dáil. Tá dhá scór bliain caite agam ag tógáil caidrimh, ag troid ar son an dáilcheantair seo agus ag cinntiú go mbaintear torthaí amach. Tá muinín agam go dtabharfaidh vótálaithe tacaíocht don taithí sin i mí na Bealtaine.”
