Why are Fianna Fáil hiding their manifesto costings & spreadsheets – O’Donovan
26th January 2020 -
FIANNA Fáil have been called on to stop hiding their manifesto costings and spreadsheets from the public by a Fine Gael Minister.
Fine Gael Minister and candidate in Limerick County Patrick O’Donvan has called on Fianna Fáil to come clean on their costings which are still not available and remain hidden following their manifesto launch last Friday.
“Over the weekend, the Fianna Fáil leader Micheal Martin claimed that he was fiscally responsible. Unfortunately, for him the people of Ireland remember the state he left the country in a little over a decade ago. They don’t trust Fianna Fáil and they’re right not to when they have the arrogance to make promises and not tell people how much they’ll cost.
“Why are they still hiding their costings and spreadsheets? Their leader told journalists on Friday they’d be available for all to see. Nobody has seen them. Fianna Fáil are making it up as they go along.
“The only things Micheal Martin was fiscally responsible for were
- Mass unemployment;
- Mass emigration;
- The introduction of the USC;
- Cutting the minimum wage;
- A record budget deficit and;
- Ireland having the indignity of entering and IMF bailout programme
“People are right not to trust Micheal Martin or Fianna Fáil on the economy. They’ve made a series of promises without producing any costings for them.
“People are realising that this is the same old Fianna Fáil, the economic authors of boom and bust. The Irish people don’t want to go back to the broken economic cycle of the past; they want to move forward.
“In contrast, Fine Gael has produced a fully costed manifesto that is there for all to see.”
