13th November 2018 - Senator Paudie Coffey

THE biggest employer in Waterford is adding 100 jobs to its workforce at a lens manufacturing facility in a timely boost for the region, Senator Paudie Coffey has said.

Bausch Health Companies Inc today confirmed new investment plans that will result of a major expansion of its contact lens manufacturing capacities at its Bausch + Lomb sites in Waterford and Rochester in the US.

This new investment will result in the creation of 200 new jobs. Some 100 of these jobs will go to Waterford, where the company already employs 1,350 people, making it the largest employer in the county.

Welcoming the development, Senator Coffey said: “This announcement is another hugely positive development for Waterford and the region.

“With the North Quays regeneration progressing there is a strong sense now that Waterford’s time has come and this growing confidence and momentum we see in the city is reflected in today’s announcement.

“This investment is a testament to the efforts and commitment of all employees in the Waterford facility.

“Credit is also due to the IDA and my ministerial colleagues in the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation.”

Welcoming the Waterford investment, Minister for Business Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys said: “I am delighted to see this investment which will result in a significant jobs boost for the South East. Bausch + Lomb is one of the best-known and most respected health care brands in the world, and I look forward to our mutually beneficial relationship continuing to develop even further in the years ahead.”
