Deputy Harris announces Wicklow-wide information seminars on student grants

25th June 2013 - Simon Harris TD

Wicklow Fine Gael TD, Simon Harris has today announced plans to hold a series of seminars to provide information to students and families on the procedure for applying for a grant to assist in the cost of third level education.

“Today I am happy to announce that I am organising a series of information seminars, which are going to take place all around the county of Wicklow, on the issue of applying for a student grant in an attempt to help anyone who might have any queries with regard to the process” said Deputy Harris.

The seminars are going to take place in Wicklow Town, Bray, Greystones, Blessington, Newtownmountkennedy and Arklow.

“Following last year’s complications with SUSI that lead to significant delays in the payment of much needed grants to students right across Wicklow and indeed the country, I hope that these seminars can be a useful tool to help families for when they are applying to SUSI” Deputy Harris also said.

The seminars will cover a broad range of areas related to the SUSI grant application process such as a guide to applying, the type of information required and also the criteria for applying.

“I would like to invite and also encourage, any student, parent or guardian to come along to one of these seminars and to make sure you are fully aware of the process. The cost of going to college can be quite high and I aim to ensure that I do everything I can to help you prepare for what is the next significant milestone in a student’s life” concluded Deputy Harris.
