Eishtec expands operations and will now employ 950 people in two sites in South East – Coffey

24th October 2013 - Senator Paudie Coffey

Fine Gael Waterford Deputy, Paudie Coffey, has welcomed news that Waterford company, Eishtec, is to expand further and will now employ 950 people in the South East region at their two sites in Waterford and Wexford. Deputy Coffey his expressed his delight at having been able to assist Eishtec during its establishment over 2 years ago, when the company initially announced it would be hiring 20 people.

“Eishtec is the fastest growing Enterprise Ireland-supported company in Ireland and it was little more than two years ago that the company was established with the ambition of creating 20 jobs and expanding to 100 by the end of that year. We now have a Waterford based company, run by Irish entrepreneurs, which will employ 950 people in the region.

“Having been involved with Eishtec since the outset, when they first made a modest proposal, I can attest to the commitment, energy and vision of all involved. The management and staff have exceeded all expectations and won new contracts that have created hundreds of jobs, which is where the focus should be.

“Eishtec now employs far more people than Talk Talk ever did and has become one of Waterford’s largest employers in a very short space of time. The announcement today shows the owners’ ambition, drive and dedication to their business and it underpins the hard work and quality of service that the people of Waterford and the South East are providing to many thousands of customers around the world.

“This is a company that the people of Waterford should be proud of as it is providing employment to hundreds of families in Waterford and the surrounding region. This expansion comes on the back of the jobs announcement by Nypro that will initially employ 200 people in the city, the expansion of Dawn Meats, Eirgen Pharma, and the major Glanbia investment in the Belview Port area that will create hundreds of sustainable jobs.

“Waterford’s unemployment problem is still a major challenge, but we are tackling this problem by supporting different sectors in the economy such as farming, indigenous SMEs, the construction sector, tourism and assisting companies like Eishtec in the services sector to expand rapidly so that it can create employment. Eishtec is a huge success story not only for Waterford but for Ireland and it highlights the potential of Waterford and the South East for investors coming to Ireland.”
