Farmers to have their say at agri-food meeting – Brennan
10th February 2026 - Brian Brennan TD
A meeting of agri-food stakeholders with the Minister for Agriculture will address the key issues facing farmers, a Fine Gael TD has said.
Deputy Brian Brennan said the discussion will directly inform future action in the agri-food sector.
“In recent weeks, we’ve seen farming groups speak publicly about their concerns within the sector. Minister Heydon has heard their calls and I’m delighted to see a proposed meeting will be held between these groups and the Minister.
“This meeting will be hugely important for farmers across the country who can highlight their concerns on issues like CAP and Bluetongue.
“It’s essential that all farming groups come together and have a serious discussion about the future of the sector. We need to get all groups around the table.
“We want to ensure that farmers feel heard and real, tangible improvements are felt in the sector while also protecting the integrity of our quality assurance scheme.
“Active engagement from all stakeholders is key to making real progress in the sector. We want to hear from farmers on trade, supports for generational renewal and improving health and safety standards on farms.
“Its essential that any actions taken in the agri-food sector are fair for farmers and maintain the confidence of consumers.
“I encourage all stakeholders to attend the meeting,” concluded Deputy Brennan.
