Support available for Wicklow and Wexford homeowners affected by Storm Chandra – Brennan
27th January 2026 - Brian Brennan TD
The Emergency Response Payment (formerly called the Humanitarian Assistance Scheme) is now available to those living in properties affected by Storm Chandra in Wicklow and Wexford, a Fine Gael TD has said.
Deputy Brian Brennan said: “This is essential for those people who have had their homes damaged from flooding and are unable to meet the emergency costs for repairs, which can include structural damages.”
Levels of payment under the scheme depend on the relative severity of damage experienced and the household’s ability to meet these costs from their own resources. This ensures that the funding is appropriately targeted.
Stage 1 of the scheme is available from today until next Wednesday.
Deputy Brennan said it is essential that families affected by Storm Chandra are helped immediately:
“Many of the home affected in Wicklow and Wexford are facing serious damage, which includes ruined flooring and essential appliances destroyed.
“For families already stretched by the cost of living, these unexpected expenses are simply impossible to absorb. This scheme is an essential lifeline.”
He encouraged affected homeowners to access these supports by contacting the Community Welfare Service by phoning 0818 60 70 80.
