Fine Gael selects Cllr Clodagh Higgins, Cllr Pete Roche, and Niamh Madden to contest Galway East constituency in General Election

Cllr. Clodagh Higgins, Cllr. Pete Roche, and Niamh Madden have been selected by Fine Gael to represent the party in the Galway East constituency at the next General Election.
Party members selected Niamh Madden and Cllrs Clodagh Higgins and Pete Roche last night (Sunday) in a convention held in the New Inn Leisure Centre, New Inn which was chaired by Senator Garret Ahearn.
Fine Gael have now chosen 45 General Election candidates in 29 constituencies.
Councillor Clodagh Higgins said: “I am honoured and privileged to have been selected to contest the Dail elections for the Galway East constituency.
“I wish to thank the membership of the organisation for putting their faith in me. To have been selected is recognition by them of my hard work, delivery and deep connections to the constituency.
“Having served as a councillor for over five years and Mayor of Galway, I have demonstrated that I possess the characteristics and capabilities to be an effective representative.
“I am committed to working tirelessly on behalf of the people of Galway East as part of the Taoiseach’s team, and I am confident I have the experience, energy and drive to deliver for Galway East at national level.”
Councillor Pete Roche said: “I am truly honoured to have the support of my fellow Fine Gael members and to be selected as a candidate for Galway East.
“It has been a privilege to serve as a county councillor, and I am excited about the opportunity to represent our community in Dáil Éireann.
“My top priorities are clear: supporting our agricultural sector, ensuring access to affordable housing, and expanding early years childcare.
“Agriculture is the lifeblood of Galway East, and I am committed to advocating for our farmers, ensuring they have the resources and support they need to thrive.
“At the same time, addressing the housing crisis and improving access to affordable childcare are essential for the future of our families and communities.
“I will work tirelessly to deliver on these issues, making sure Galway East remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
“With your support, I am determined to be a strong voice for Galway East in Dáil Éireann and deliver the change and progress our community deserves.”
Niamh Madden said: “I am honoured and privileged to have been selected by the Fine Gael membership in Galway East to contest the next General Election.
“I look forward to working for and with the people of Galway East and to retaining the seat held by outgoing TD, Deputy Ciaran Cannon.
“As an Auctioneer & Valuer, I work with and for people all over Galway East every day. I have a deep understanding of the issues and challenges that our communities face. I have built a reputation for being hardworking and trustworthy.
“I know that with my expertise and experience, I can help shape the ideas and be a voice for the people of Galway East, so that we can make a real difference to the lives of ordinary people.
“I am now asking the people of Galway East to support me so that I can make that difference.”
