Heather Humphreys takes Presidential campaign to Wexford

Presidential election candidate, Heather Humphreys, visited Wexford today (Friday) as part of her campaign.

Heather began her day with a visit to South East Radio for a chat with Alan Corcoran.

Heather then walked about the town, including a visit to Wexford Credit Union and the Clovelly coffee shop. She met business owners and people telling them about her plans for the Presidency.

Heather said: “It’s really great to be back in Wexford, a county I love. I have been here many times over the years as a Minister supporting local projects such as community centres, playgrounds and sports facilities. I opened the Dome Training Centre and Sensory Garden in Enniscorthy and the Emigrant Park in New Ross. I also have fond memories of my visit ten years ago to officially name our beautiful National Opera House. Thanks to everyone in Wexford for taking the time to talk about my plans for the Presidency.

“I am putting myself before the people on the basis that I am a centre ground, common sense, pro-European candidate.

“The Presidency is above party politics, and I am asking voters to place their trust in me so that I can bring my experience to the role of President.

“I served in Cabinet for 10 years; overseeing the successful 1916 Commemorations, supporting businesses through Brexit and the pandemic, rolling out Hot School Meals to young children across the country, enhancing supports for our pensioners and investing in local communities.

“Throughout my career I have always worked constructively with people and parties from across the political spectrum. I have served in Government at different times alongside Fianna Fáil, the Labour party, the Green party and Independents. During my time on Monaghan County Council, I worked alongside members of Sinn Féin for the benefit of our local area. I have always worked in a spirit of cooperation with everybody on all political sides and I would bring that same ethos to the Presidency.

“I won’t let our country down and I will represent Ireland with pride diplomatically and culturally at home and on the world stage.”
