John Perry TD
John Perry TD is formerly the Minister of State for Small Business. He represents the Sligo-North Leitrim constituency. John was first elected to the Dáil in 1997. He was Fine Gael Spokesperson on Science, Technology, Small Business & Enterprise and the Border Counties from 1997-2000. He was subsequently re-elected to the Dáil in May 2007 and was appointed Spokesperson on Small Business. He served as Fine Gael Spokesperson on the Marine from October 2004 to September 2007.
John was the recipient of the Sligo Person of the Year Award in 1993 and the winner of the Irish Quality Business Award in 1991 and 1992. In March 2008, the Queen’s County St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee honoured John with the Gael of the Year Award for his work in developing closer links between New York and Ireland. He is a businessperson in his home town of Ballymote in Co. Sligo, where he lives with wife Marie and son Jude. He is keenly interested in horses and listens to Irish traditional music. John established Sligo’s first Community Enterprise Board in Ballymote, resulting in industrial development in the area. He is a former Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee.
