Keating welcomes N7 Newlands Cross upgrade

Local Fine Gael TD for Dublin Mid-West, Derek Keating, has today (Tuesday) welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Transport, Leo Varadkar TD, of the contracts being signed for the N7 Newlands Cross fly-over.

Coffey encourages people to visit Waterford as national tourism numbers rise by 7.4%

Fine Gael Waterford Deputy, Paudie Coffey, has said the increase in tourism figures of 7.4% in the first three months of 2013 compared to the same time last year will have a positive impact on the entire Irish economy. Deputy Coffey outlined the critical role the services sector is playing in Ireland’s recovery, saying that the number of tourists visiting Ireland will lead to more business opportunities which will generate additional income for every town and village.

Retained fire fighters to be allowed access to social welfare schemes – Coffey

Fine Gael Waterford Deputy, Paudie Coffey, has said that retained fire fighters will be able to access social protection support payments following a decision made by the Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton TD. Deputy Coffey has met many of the retained fire fighters in Waterford who were anxious to have access to these supports re-instated and will be glad to hear that Minister Burton will be approving this measure in the Social Welfare and Pensions Bill 2013 which will becoming before the Oireachtas soon.

€90m LEADER funding to boost many community projects in rural areas - Feighan

Fine Gael TD for Roscommon/South Leitrim, Frank Feighan, has said the release of €90 million in LEADER funding by the Minister for the Environment, Phil Hogan TD, will now provide the financial impetus for many important community projects in Roscommon, Leitrim and across the country.

Butler welcomes funding for Meath Partnership under LEADER programme

Fine Gael Meath West TD, Ray Butler, has welcomed the announcement that funding is being allocated to Meath Partnership. The Minister for the Environment, Phil Hogan TD, has released a total of €90 million of funding under the LEADER elements of the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013.

Approval of €42 million for local development companies a major boost – Coffey

Fine Gael Waterford Deputy, Paudie Coffey, has welcomed news from the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan TD, that he is authorising €42 million to local development companies. Deputy Coffey received the news this afternoon (Wednesday) during a topical issue debate in the Dáil, where the Minister stated that he will be approving a total of €90 million for the funding of the LEADER elements of the Rural Development Programme.

Mitchell O’Connor and Min. Fitzgerald focus on women, children and families in Dun Laoghaire

Fine Gael Dun Laoghaire Deputy, Mary Mitchell O’Connor, will tomorrow (Thursday) welcome the Minister for Children, Frances Fitzgerald TD, to Dun Laoghaire, where the Minister will officially open the Cottage Home Family Support Service, visit the Harold Primary School and address the Women in Business Alliance at the Dun Laoghaire Chamber of Commerce.

Speaking following a meeting of the Committee on Environment, which was attended by representatives from the Office of Public Works, Fine Gael Longford/Westmeath Deputy, James Bannon, welcomed the engagement by officials and their commitment to address the issues of flooding on the River Shannon.
