Waterford Fine Gael Minister of State for Housing & Planning, Paudie Coffey TD has today announced €2.5 million worth of housing investment for Waterford City and County.

“The funding will be used across a range of housing schemes to make more social housing available and to improve housing for people with disabilities, as well as retrofitting homes to improve energy efficiency.

“In Waterford, €466,312 has been allocated to return 27 vacant units to use. This follows on from investment last year that saw 46 units brought back into use. A further €1,087,904 has been allocated for the Housing Adaptation Grants for Older People and People with a Disability Allocations.

“Waterford is to receive €403,938 in Local Authority Adaptation and Extension Allocations and €698,999 will be provided to improve energy efficiency. All of this will improve local authority housing; by bringing units back into use; improving energy efficiency; improving accessibility for older people and for people with disabilities.

“This funding is part of a huge Government commitment to housing and improving the quality of life of those who are dependent on the system of public housing. This will provide a boost to the construction sector in Waterford. I am delighted to sanction this funding for Waterford that is being made available to improve the quality of living for people living with a disability or mobility issues.”
