Major State projects are facing higher construction costs as they are in direct competition with growing private sector infrastructure spending, a Fine Gael TD has warned.

Confirmation that an opposition TD who had previously criticised a rural bus scheme now supports it is a late but welcome development, Fine Gael TD Martin Heydon has said.

Fine Gael Kildare South TD Martin Heydon has called for the evening and weekend local link bus routes to be extended into 2019. Established by Transport Minister Shane Ross in July 2018 on a pilot basis following a proposal from the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party Chairman, the routes have been reporting increased passenger numbers.

Kildare South TD Martin Heydon has welcomed confirmation from his colleague Minister for Education Joe McHugh that a new 1,000 pupil school building has been approved for the Curragh Post Primary School.
