Perry confirms Cabinet meeting to take place in Lissadell House
14th July 2015 - Fine Gael Press Office
Fine Gael TD for Sligo, John Perry, has confirmed that a Cabinet meeting will take place in Lissadell House next week.
“I am pleased to confirm that a Cabinet meeting will take place in the iconic Lissadell House next week, the first full Cabinet meeting ever to take place in County Sligo.
“This is something on which I have been working very closely with the owners of Lissadell, Mr Edward Walsh and Mrs Constance Cassidy, for many months since the re-opening of Lissadell by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD in June 2014.
“Lissadell has grown rapidly since its re-opening attracting thousands of visitors weekly. It has played host to many great events such as The Great Yeats Birthday and most recently the Lissadell Country and Garden Fair.
“As we approach the commemorations for 1916, it is fitting that the former home of Countess Markievicz, a political icon who led Ireland’s revolutionary fight for freedom and was our first female Minister, will play host to a Cabinet meeting of this 31st Dáil.”
