Sinn Féin is the high tax anti-jobs party – Corcoran Kennedy

Fine Gael Laois/Offaly TD and Chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy has today (Wednesday) labelled Sinn Féin the high tax, anti-jobs party, saying that the Government’s Budget 2015 will prioritise employment growth. Deputy Corcoran Kennedy was speaking after Sinn Féin launched its budget proposals.

“Sinn Féin’s budget proposals prove what we’ve known for some time. Sinn Féin is the high tax, anti-jobs party.

“Sinn Féin want to pile 12% extra tax onto the people who create employment in this country. They want to increase the top rate of tax by 7% and, incredibly, they also want to increase Employer’s PRSI by 5%.

“This dangerous anti-jobs measure would threaten the growth in employment achieved already since this Government took office. Since the launch of the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs, the live register has fallen almost 10% thanks to the creation of over 70,000 new jobs.

“Don’t be fooled by Sinn Féin’s bogus economics. Fine Gael is the only party to manage the economy; we have proved this time and again over many decades when we’ve had to clean up the mess left behind by others. Thankfully, after a period of intense hardship for the Irish people, the economy is back on its feet and jobs are being created at a significant rate. The Government will not lose focus on this mission and next week’s Budget 2015 will prioritise continued employment growth.”
