Statement from An Tánaiste following the passing of former Fine Gael TD Gerard Lynch
21st December 2025 - Fine Gael Press Office
I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Gerard Lynch.
Gerard gave decades of service both to this country and the Fine Gael party, in his roles as a former TD for Kerry North, Senator, and Councillor.
Gerard was a man of tremendous integrity, someone who possessed a genuine passion for politics and for working to improve the lives of his constituents of Kerry North.
He will be remembered not only for his contributions to public life, but for his courtesy, his decency and the respect he showed to all who worked with him.
It was my great honour to meet with Gerard and his family last year, to thank him for his incredible public service. I will remember him fondly and with a sense of great gratitude for his contribution to Fine Gael, to the Oireachtas and to Kerry.
On behalf of Fine Gael, I want to extend my heartfelt sympathies to Gerard’s family, in particular his wife Margot and children Mary, Geraldine, Seamus, Paddy, Catherine, Ann, Norma, Bernadette and Mags, as well as his wide circle of friends.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
