Statement from Cabra-Glasnevin Councillor Colm O’Rourke
18th November 2025 - Fine Gael Press Office
A statement from Councillor Colm O’Rourke, Councillor for the Cabra-Glasnevin Ward, Leader of the Fine Gael Group in Dublin City Council on the resignation of Paschal Donohoe
“I want to wish Paschal Donohoe the very best as he steps down from his role as Minister and prepares to resign as a TD.
“Paschal has been more than a colleague; he has been a mentor and a friend. He has always been generous with his time, advice, and encouragement. In many ways, he was the reason I first got involved in politics, and I will always be grateful for his guidance over the years.
“His career has been defined by dedication, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to the people he represents. Having started out as a Councillor for the Cabra-Glasnevin Ward himself, he has always understood the importance of staying close to the community. It’s a perspective I appreciate as I am now a Councillor in the same ward that Paschal represented when he first served on the Council. His contributions locally, nationally, and internationally have been remarkable, and his presence will be deeply missed by colleagues and residents alike.
“I want to sincerely thank Paschal for everything he has given to our community and to public life. His work has set a strong example for all of us who care about serving the people of Dublin Central.”
