23rd February 2026 - Fine Gael Press Office
Séan Kyne hit the ground running in the first full day of campaigning as Fine Gael’s candidate for the upcoming Galway West bye-election.
The day started at Galway Bay FM where Senator Kyne outlined his priorities for the constituency, including the provision of housing, and the Galway Ring Road.
He then visited Parkmore Industrial Estate where he met workers and employers across one of Galway’s most important economic hubs.
“Parkmore is a powerhouse for jobs and innovation. It is vital we support the businesses here so they can continue to grow and give opportunities to the people of Galway,” he said.
A canvass took place on Eyre Square where he spoke with shoppers, commuters and workers.
In the afternoon, Senator Kyne travelled west to Aerfort Chonamara in Indreabháin where he met staff and discussed the airport’s role in connecting the islands.
He said, “The airport is a lifeline for the islands and a key part of Galway’s infrastructure. I will continue to work to ensure the facilities has support and long-term certainty.”
Senator Kyne then called to local farmers in Connemara to hear about the pressures in the sector, and heard about the rising costs and regulations farmers are facing.
The day finished with a canvass in Salthill where Senator Kyne met with locals and business owners on the Prom.
Senator Kyne said the campaign “is about listening, engaging and working with people right across Galway West.
“I’m looking forward to meeting many more over the coming weeks,” he added.
