26th May 2025 - Fine Gael Press Office
Tánaiste and Fine Gael leader Simon Harris has appointed Paula Butterly TD Fine Gael Spokesperson for Regional Development.
An Tánaiste said: “I am pleased to appoint Deputy Paula Butterly to this role for Fine Gael. The Programme for Government has a strong focus on regional development, aiming to create a more balanced and sustainable economy across all regions, and infrastructure which is a key priority for Fine Gael and Government.
“A key Fine Gael priority is to ensure that we have regional and local approaches that accurately reflect housing need, projected jobs growth and renewable energy capacity allocations, so we are building an Ireland for today and tomorrow.
“The recently approved National Planning Framework provides the basis for delivering what we need in the years ahead. I know that Paula will be successful in ensuring that this government delivers balanced investments in infrastructure, supports for businesses and connectivity across the regions.”
Deputy Paula Butterly said: “I’m delighted to have been asked to take on this responsibility by the Tánaiste. As a TD for Louth, I understand the importance of fair investment across all corners of Ireland.
“I am committed to securing regional balance in the National Planning Framework review and to the delivery of large projects, on time and in budget.
“I have identified a number of key growth centres across Ireland, which, if harnessed properly, can flourish to further boost local economies in our towns and villages. I look forward to getting started on the work ahead.
