29th November 2019 - Fine Gael Press Office
The Leader of Fine Gael, An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD, has welcomed Cllr Aisling Dolan to the Fine Gael team and to the Party’s General Election ticket in Roscommon- Galway.
He said: “I’m really pleased to welcome Cllr Aisling Dolan to Fine Gael and on to our General Election ticket in Roscommon-Galway.
“She is an excellent addition to the ticket alongside our experienced Senator Maura Hopkins.
“Aisling has proven herself to be a hard-working councillor and a dedicated representative for her constituents. I know that she can take this to the next level and represent the people of Roscommon- Galway in the Dáil with distinction.
“From a farming background, she has a deep link to the land. She’s championed Portiuncula Hospital and is determined to secure more employment opportunities for Ballinasloe and the constituency as a whole. Aisling has also worked for Enterprise Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland and is currently a project manager at NUI Galway specialising in the area of Health Innovation, working with start-ups in medicine and the HSE.
“We need more good people and women in particular in the Dáil and I am proud that my party is leading the way. We have more female councillors, TDs and MEPs that any other party. Now we have two excellent women running for Fine Gael in Roscommon-Galway on an all-female ticket to match that of Regina Doherty and Helen McEntee in Meath East.”
