Up to 25% of Emergency Department visit charges left unpaid – Burke
8th February 2015 - Fine Gael Press Office
Fine Gael Senator for Cork North Central and the Party’s Seanad spokesperson on Health, has criticised figures from the HSE which confirm that as much as 25% of Emergency Department visits charges have been left unpaid and uncollected.
“In a time of increased financial pressure on our health system and hospitals, it is outrageous that more than €2.25 million in Emergency Department charges have been left outstanding. This money could be efficiently used in other financially pressed healthcare areas such as homecare or hospice care.
