Verdict: FF is the party of disorder – Harris
Minister Simon Harris said today (Wednesday) that Fianna Fáil is the party of disorder.
“Fianna Fáil have no credibility on policing. They are the party that closed Templemore and stopped Garda recruitment after they wrecked the economy. Their attempts to capitalise on fear and score political points on the issue are sickening, considering the drain on resources caused by their crash had on the Gardaí.
“In their last budget submission the party provided for 500 new Gardaí – 100 fewer than Fine Gael. Let’s be clear; Fianna Fáil is the party of disorder, whose economic incompetence starved the Gardaí of resources, and undermined the force.
“They stopped recruitment, ignored ICT, left a rusting Garda fleet and failed to introduce legislation on repeat offenders. Their record on law and order is shameful.
“Fine Gael’s Long Term Economic Plan will combine smart public service investment with reform to ensure new and better services. By keeping the recovery going, Fine Gael’s plan will keep Templemore open and recruit 600 new Gardaí every year.”
