Michael Murphy
I am a native of Gouig Castleconnell, and have lived here all my life. Having come from a background in farming and forestry I went on to work with An Post for many years serving both Limerick City and Castleconnell. In more recent times I operated a successful passenger transport business here in Castleconnell supporting the local community. After completing a number of Healthcare Courses I now occupy the role of Program Facilitator with the Rehab Group.
As a community activist I am involved with a number of different Parish Clubs and Groups.
• Chairman of Castleconnell Community Employment Scheme
• Vice Chairman of Ahane GAA Club
• PRO of the Castleconnell Historical Society
• PRO of the Mulcair Men’s Shed.
• Volunteer with Castleconnell Tidy Towns
In the forthcoming Local Elections I am seeking a mandate from the people of Castleconnell Ahane and Montpelier to be your representative on Limerick City and County Council. If elected I will strive to ensure that the best interests of our Parish and Village are foremost in any future Council Plan for this area.
SOME ISSUES I WANT TO ADDRESS OVER THE NEXT FIVE YEARS.
> Sport and Recreational facilities for our growing youth population
> Greater Role for the Community Employment Scheme
> The Proposed Greenway Project (UL to Montpelier)
> Continued Support for our Clubs and Voluntary Organisations
