John Mullins

I am looking for your support, your vote and to tell you a little about me and why I am running for Fine Gael in Ireland South.

I know that I am a new face to many people, and wanted to take this opportunity to tell you, my story so far. I have been a member of Fine Gael for over thirty years. I was appointed as a Trustee by Iar-Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar in 2018.

I am a UCC Engineering graduate, a former CEO of Bord Gáis, and I now lead a successful international renewable energy company. I want to use the experience I have gained over three decades to be a strong voice in Europe.

I was the founding chairman of Anam Cara, a charity that supports bereaved parents. I currently chair EnergyCloud, a not-for-profit social enterprise, which seeks to divert surplus renewable energy, which would otherwise be wasted, to Irish homes, with a primary focus on those in fuel poverty.

Understanding the challenges faced by our rural communities, I am an advocate for a Just Transition —  which is all about making sure that when we move to a more sustainable economy, we do it in a fair way that includes everyone. This is really important for helping our farmers as we switch to more environmentally friendly ways of farming. It’s about making sure their jobs are safe and making sure we appreciate all that they do. In my experience farmers are willing to change once the change is incremental, measured and where there is a benefit for all.

In the European Parliament, I aim to leverage my expertise in the energy sector to advocate for policies that will lead to the reduction of energy prices in Ireland, fostering an environment that supports both households and businesses. I am determined to represent the interests of rural Ireland with the utmost dedication.

On June 7th, voters across the EU will go to the polls to elect Members of the European Parliament. I look forward to engaging with you over the coming weeks, I want to deliver on your behalf and I’m asking for your No. 1 vote and I am.

Our Party has a rich history of shaping the European narrative, and with your support, I am confident that we can continue this legacy. Remember, Fine Gael is the party of Europe.
