Imelda Daly

Local Election Candidate

Electoral Area: Cork City North East

Cork City Council

Imelda Daly

My name is Imelda Daly, and I am honoured to have been selected to serve you as Fine Gael members and the wonderful community of Glanmire and the greater North East Ward as a candidate.

I have a vested interest in Glanmire. I was born there, went to school in Riverstown NS and then onto Colaiste an Phiarsaigh. I studied History and Irish in UCC before making my way to travel the world and engage with other communities and making friends from around the world.

On my return to Cork I decided I would like to train to become a Primary School teacher, thus began the beginning of a 16 year career which I love and where no two days are the same. I am currently teaching in Upper Glanmire National School- a great school with a fantastic sense of community.

I’m living in Glanmire with my husband Leo and our two girls. Both attend Riverstown NS and are involved in the local Glanmire Ladies Football Club, Sinead Sheppard’s dance school and Foróige. I myself am a volunteer with Foróige and I’m treasuruer of Brooklodge Recreational Centre.

I am deeply committed to serving the entire East Ward community and making a positive difference in the lives of the residents.

Experience: Over the years, I have been actively involved in various community initiatives, which have given me insights into the North East Ward’s unique challenges and opportunities. I have a proven track record of working effectively to address these issues.

Accessibility: I believe in open and transparent governance. I will be present and active in community meetings, create opportunities for one-on-one discussions, and actively listen to people’s concerns and ideas.

Dedication: My dedication to our community is unwavering. I am not going for election for personal gain or political ambition. I genuinely care about Glanmire and the Greater North East area and want to see it thrive.

Accountability: I understand the importance of accountability. I will work diligently to fulfil the promises I make during my campaign.

Empowerment: I believe in empowering our residents to take an active role in shaping our community’s destiny.

Inclusivity: I believe in the strength of diversity and inclusivity. I will work to create an environment where every voice is heard and every resident is valued, regardless of their background
