Gerard Seaman

Local Election Candidate

Electoral Area: Bandon-Kinsale

Cork County Council

Gerard Seaman

My name is Gerard Seaman and I am married to Sinead (Hair by Sinead). We have two children, Daniel & Milly-Jean.

I went to school in St. Brogan’s College, Bandon and am a director of our family Motor Dealership, Dan Seaman Motors. I have worked in the Motor industry for 29 years and also am very involved in the community.

I am currently Chairman of Cork South West Fine Gael Constituency, working with our elected representatives on issues in our communities. I am also Chairman of Bandon Community Alert, as well as a sponsor to the Local G.A.A club as well as the Rugby & Hockey clubs through our business.

I am a keen motorsport enthusiast competing when time allows; I have also been the Manager of the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship as well as Clerk of the Course for the Moonraker Forestry Rally. I was the chief marshall of the Bandon Tractor & Truck Run, raising funds for local charities.

I am also involved with the Northside Neighbours group in Bandon. I am a former Chairperson of Bandon Bridge National School Parents’ Association, as well as being a former member of the Board of Management.

As a Local candidate living and having a business in town with my wife, I am acutely aware of the issues facing our area. I am particularly concerned with the lack of housing, both private as well as social and affordable. We need to get more beds for our aging population in our community hospitals. Parking in our Main Towns is not sufficient for the volume of traffic coming into our area.

I want to see tax breaks for owners of business properties to help deliver ‘over the shop’  liveable accommodation, and breathe new life into our community. I want to see land purchased by our government bodies, to help entice companies to start producing in the Bandon/Kinsale area and provide more valuable sustainable jobs in the area. I want more investment in our Schools. These are just some of my priorities once elected, and I am available to discuss any matters you might have, and can be contacted by phone or email.
