Luke Corkery
My name is Luke Corkery and I’m your Fine Gael Local Election Candidate for Swords.
I’m ambitious for Swords; the place where I grew up, went to school and still live today. It’s one of the youngest and fastest-growing regions in Ireland, and it has so much potential.
I’m a commuter, dependent on unreliable bus services to get me to work each morning, amid traffic chaos. I understand the frustrations of so many others like me. We need better, more frequent, and more reliable public transport services.
I’m a young person for whom the prospect of renting, yet alone buying a home locally, seems practically out of reach. We need more homes in Swords, and in particular I want to see the large-scale development of purpose-built affordable housing in the capital of Fingal.
Anti-social behaviour, from break-ins to vandalism, has become all too common, and I want to see a focus on neighborhood policing to ensure that people feel safe in their communities.
A third-level institution for Swords has long been on the cards, and I will work with my Fine Gael colleagues to ensure the delivery of the planned Fingal College of Further Education, a campus designed to accommodate more than 1,000 full time students.
If elected, I will bring new energy to Fingal County Council and to the people of Swords.
My priorities:

- Secure a third-level campus
