Paddy Curran

Paddy Curran was co-opted to replace Mark Stafford in late October 2023. He is an active public representative. He has been on the Board of the Irish Stable Staff Association working tirelessly to protect, advise, educate and promote the basic rights of all staff that work within the racing sector of the Irish Equine Industry. He is currently on the Irish Stable Staff Association Pension Board and is Administrator for the Irish Stable Staff Association in their office on the Curragh, at the heart of racing. He is the first point of contact for staff who need support or guidance in any way. 

He has delivered on many projects over the years, the latest being a warning system for all road users on the Curragh to alert them that equines and riders are training or crossing the road, and is currently working on stage two of this project and expects this stage to be complete by December 2023. 

Paddy received the accolade of person of the year for his work within the community of Kildare which saw him develop great relationships with so many diverse groups. 

Paddy is also on the Kildare Derby Festival committee and has worked on many festivals since 2010. 

Paddy held the position of Chair of Kildare Town AFC and coached for 14 years, building up a proven track record of delivering not just on the field of play, but structurally and financially for the Club. 

Being local, Paddy understands the needs of local people extremely well and is fully committed to delivering for them and local business. 

Paddy is actively involved with many mental health and addiction groups, and believes he has made a significant difference to so many people who looked to him for supports over the years. 

In this new role as County Councillor, Paddy will continue to serve his Local Electoral Area to the best of his ability and as those who know him already know, he is always available.
