Dan was elected as a Fine Gael Councillor in Limerick City West Electoral Area at his first attempt, in 2019. Son of Michael and Deirdre McSweeney (nee Owens) formerly of Ballinacurra.
Dan was born and raised in Patrickswell, educated at St. Nessan’s National School, Raheen, Salesian Secondary College, Pallaskenry and is currently studying Law and Taxation part-time in Limerick Institute of Technology.
Being actively involved in his local community Dan is aware of the issues affecting rural and urban areas of Limerick City West.
The provision of community, sport and recreational facilities, improving connectivity with the City, supporting local business and tourism initiatives and championing environmental issues are all high on Dan’s priority list.
