Hugh Rouse
Hugh Rouse is a Fine Gael candidate for the Ballina area in the upcoming local elections. He was born and raised in Ballina. After spending time in finance in Dublin, he moved back home 10 years ago. Since then, he has been a strong voice for Ballina and North Mayo. Rouse is self-employed and works in insurance and finance, supporting enterprise and business in the area.
Rouse is very active in the community. He has held several leadership positions. These include former President of the Chamber of Commerce, one of the region’s largest. He has led many projects, such as Other Voices. He has also headed up festivals and volunteered in many local clubs. Rouse is working with stakeholders to attract new business to the area. In particular, he focuses on Ballina’s Innovation Hub.
He sits on Mayo County Council’s Economic Development, Enterprise, Planning and Marine Strategic Policy Committee. He is a former committee member of Brokers Ireland’s insurance committee. Within Fine Gael, he is Vice Chair of the Mayo FG Executive. He also serves as the Small Business & Enterprise Council Delegate.
Rouse wants to promote better housing standards, infrastructure, and job creation. The goal is to make Ballina and North Mayo a place to live, work, and raise a family.
