Robert McConn

Robert McConn is a retired member of An Garda Síochána with over 34 years of experience. During his time in the force, he performed two overseas missions with the United Nations civilian police. Robert is a big sports enthusiast and supports all codes of the GAA. He has been a member of the Roscommon County Board for over twenty years and is a director of Roscommon Race Course. He has been involved with the race committee for over thirty years and is the vice-Captain of Roscommon Golf Club for 2024.

Robert retired in 2020 and is now a part-time taxi/bus driver that caters for wheelchair users. He drives mostly for the Brothers of Charity and the HSE in and around Roscommon Town. He also brings wheelchair users to appointments in hospitals and doctors’ offices.

Robert is a member of his local resident’s committee and Neighbourhood Watch. He is on a committee at Roscommon Hospital that deals with patient care. He is also involved with the local Christmas Lights committee and helps out with many other voluntary committees, including church gate collections and stewarding at walks and runs.

Robert was born and brought up on a farm and attended Agricultural College. He has a keen interest in farming and the environment.
