Jim D’Arcy: A Passionate Advocate for Waterford City East

Jim D’Arcy, a lifelong Waterford resident, has dedicated the past three decades to empowering young people through education. As the coordinator at Waterford Youthreach, he’s helped countless individuals find a second chance at learning—a journey that has left a lasting positive impact on the local community.

Jim proudly wears the Fine Gael badge.  From 2004 to 2014, he served as a city councillor, and during his tenure, he was honoured to be City Mayor from 2012 to 2013. This role allowed him to forge deeper connections with our community, understanding its pulse and needs.

Currently, Waterford City East is without a Fine Gael Councillor, and Jim aims to change that. He believes in the untapped potential of Waterford city and envisions it as a vibrant hub of opportunity and growth. By returning to the council, he plans to advocate fiercely for our Waterford City East ensuring that every voice is heard.

Jim’s passion for Waterford runs deep. He sees the hidden gems, the unexplored corners, and the unrealized potential. With sleeves rolled up, he’s ready to work alongside you, making the city even better.

Jim’s anchor is his family. Married to Helen Hayden, they are raising two remarkable daughters: 16-year-old Danielle and 11-year-old Rachel. They are daily reminders of why community matters keep Jim grounded and focused.
