Seamus MacDermott

Local Election Candidate

Electoral Area: Kinnegad

Westmeath Council

Seamus MacDermott

I’m delighted to have been nominated by Fine Gael to contest the local elections in the Coole Kinnegad area this June. Born and raised in Fore, I’ve been working in the plumbing and heating business and as a part time farmer. I’ve been employed, unemployed, self-employed and an employer, working in both construction and local industry.

I was a member of Macra na Feirme and I’m currently a member of the IFA – I understand farming & agriculture and I’m committed to supporting rural communities. I’ve been involved in assisting many local GAA clubs: Ringtown, Castlepollard, Lough Lene Gaels and Castletown Finea Coole Whitehall & I’ve had the honour of being chairman of my own local club, Ballycomoyle twice.

I’ve assisted many local causes: Coole carer’s association, the Credit Union schools quiz & the Drumcree Bog Festival with Delvin hospice. I’ve always been willing to fundraise for local, national & international causes, from the Darkness into Light walk for raising suicide awareness to travelling to South Africa with the Niall Mellon Foundation.

Every organisation that has asked for my assistance has received it – with your vote for me this June, I’ll continue to serve my community to the best of my ability.
