Brendan Griffin, TD

Brendan Griffin is the Fine Gael spokesperson for Social Protection. He served as Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport with special responsibility for Tourism and Sport, from June 2017 to June 2020.

He is a TD in the 33rd Dáil having been previously elected to the Dáil in 2016; he was first elected in February 2011 from the Kerry South constituency, topping the poll with 8,808 first preference votes.

He served as a member of a number of Oireachtas Committees, including: Transport, Tourism and Sport (Chair; and Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands. Brendan has previously served as a member of Kerry County Council since June 2009, when he was elected from the Dingle Electoral Area. He also contested the 2004 local election in the same area, after which he worked as Parliamentary Assistant to Jimmy Deenihan TD, until 2007, when he established his own business.

Brendan is a very hard-working TD, who believes in striking a healthy balance between his constituency and legislative duties. When in Kerry, Brendan makes a special effort to provide an efficient and accessible service to his constituents and works very hard to ensure that everyone has a chance to have their voice heard. In Leinster House, Brendan is a very active participant in Dáil and Committee work and is a frequent contributor at internal Fine Gael policy discussions.

He is married to Róisín and lives in the parish of Keel, on the foothills of the Sliabh Mish Mountains on the Dingle Peninsula.
